The Barbie mania is taking last stretch of 2023 with Ken, our very own Ryan Gosling, releasing a festive remix of ‘I’m Just Ken’ with producer Mark Ronson. They have a official music video set in a Mojo Dojo Casa House.
Gosling is featured in the Christmas rendition wearing his Ken shades singing ‘I’m Just Ken’ in a studio brightly lit with Christmas lights. There’s an EP ‘In My Feelings’ acoustic version, the electric ‘Purple Disco Machine Remix’ and a re-release of the classic ‘I’m Just Ken’. The song was nominated for Best Original Song for a Motion Picture.
2023 will definitely be marked with a Barbie-Ken Merry Kristmas, with everything Barbie, and not forgetting pink!
Ryan Gosling: I’m Just Ken
Gosling says to ‘Ken’ is to give more than is necessary or required to reflect so that others might shine. “I don’t know how to better describe Mark Ronson better than that.” He was the one to present the producer with the Soundtrack of the Year award at Variety’s annual Hitmakers earlier this month.
Ronson said there’s no way to follow that. “I was so in love with Greta Gerwig and her version that if she told me to put fly posters that said ‘Barbie’ up and down the West Side Highway, I probably would have done that as well at that point.”
He shared that it was a joy to sit with the artists and watch them as they watched clips of the film for the first time. “And I would see their eyes literally widen as they were being sucked into Greta’s heartfelt Technicolor brilliant version.”
Ryan Gosling Wanted to Dance with his Mink
Recently, Greta Gerwig revealed Gosling’s peculiar idea for ‘I’m Just Ken’ musical number. She said the La La Land actor wanted to have a dance duet with his mink. “And that mink would be fighting him, and then love him, and then fight him again, eventually beat him, and then he would be birthed anew out of the mink.”
The White Noise actress said even though the footage didn’t make in Barbie, it was that kind of openness and everybody bringing such brilliant, wild ideas that allowed it to happen in its form.
