The clip featured Scott Pelley quoting Matt Damon’s remarks about the Irish actor (Murphy) being a lousy dinner guest. Despite the initial confusion, it was revealed that Damon was praising Murphy’s dedication to his role in Christopher Nolan’s challenging film.

Well, the look on Murphy’s face as Pelley repeats the diss is classic. Here’s the clip

While Murphy and his co-stars found humor in the situation, Emily Blunt humorously predicted that the clip would become a new meme. On the other hand, Downey was trying their best to hide his ROTFL moment to be captured on camera. This light-hearted exchange was one of the best camaraderie moments among the cast members on the show.

A Chance Encounter: Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy’s On-Set Mishap

Another revelation of the night came from “The Devil Wears Prada” actress. Emily revealed a shocking behind-the-scenes incident while filming “Oppenheimer.”

I just felt Cillian needed, even more than food, was sleep on this movie,” she remarked, alluding to the actor’s weight loss for the role. “So I got him this beautiful pillow that I’m obsessed with. It’s a Hästens pillow. I gave him this pillow, but… do you mind if I tell the story?” she asked her costar.

The Golden Globes award-winning actress continued, “He was really luxuriating in this pillow one night, and he woke up in the middle of the night; this is what he told me the next day.”And he went to fluff himself back down in the pillow, misjudged where it was, and smashed his head open on the bedside table. So he came to work, and they had to glue his head shut!” the actress added.

Cillian Murphy’s Perspective on the Incident

Murphy, known for his roles in acclaimed films such as “Inception” and the “Dark Knight” trilogy, light-heartedly addressed the incident, quipping, “I was a bit shocked, you know! I was having a great sleep, and I had this amazing pillow, strange bed, strange table, [and] bang.”

Fortunately, makeup artist Luisa Abel came to the rescue in the early morning hours. Murphy explained the situation further, stating, “We were getting up before it was bright, like at 2 a.m. or something, 3 a.m. So I called her then, and I just came in, and then she glued my head and covered it all up, and you don’t even see it in the movie, I think.”

Emily Blunt, whose performance as Katharina von Nebenhaus-Lincoln has been widely praised, spoke candidly about her character’s journey throughout the film. She revealed how she found herself drawn to the complexities of portraying someone who struggles with personal demons while navigating the world of nuclear physics. Her nuanced interpretation of the character adds another layer to the already rich narrative tapestry.

Robert Downey Jr.’s participation in the film departs from his usual action-hero persona. He opened up about embracing the challenge of playing Lewis Strauss, a controversial figure in American history. Downey Jr. expressed gratitude towards Nolan for allowing him to explore different facets of his acting abilities. Throughout the episode, the chemistry between the three nominees shines through, revealing the genuine affection they hold for each other and the respect they share for Nolan’s direction.
