To provide guidance on Swiftie fan culture, the Victoria and Albert Museum (the V&A) in London is looking for a superfan of Taylor Swift. Five “superfan advisor” positions have been posted by the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), which bears the names of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. One of the positions is devoted to Swift’s fan base and will open on May 9 as she gets ready for the European phase of her Eras tour.
The selected candidates will have the opportunity to interact with historical experts at the V&A, exchange insights about their specialized field, and discover the significance of these artifacts’ history for art, design, and the future of creativity. Additionally, candidates will get to see relevant items from the collection by going behind the scenes at the V&A.
According to a statement released by the V&A to CNN on Friday, they should be able to provide “insights into the culture and artisanry” around the friendship bracelets that Swifties often exchange and the handmade signs that are always on display at concerts. Attending a Swift performance has become a means of exchanging special friendship bracelets, which frequently bear the names of Swift albums and songs or the fans’ own names. Taylor Swift’s song “You’re on Your Own, Kid” from her 2022 album “Midnights” served as the inspiration for the tradition, in which she talks about bonding with others through something in common by making friendship bracelets.
