About: Delicious In Dungeon
Delicious in Dungeon (also known as “Dungeon Meshi”) is a manga series, written and illustrated by Ryoko Kui. The manga blends traditional dungeon-crawling adventure with cooking elements, as the characters explore the possibilities of finding the lost Golden Kingdom. Episode 1 was released on January 4th, 2024 globally.
Delicious In Dungeon Episode 1 Explained (SPOILER ALERT)
Episode 1 opens with a throwback scene when an old man erupts from the fissure, claiming to be the King of the Golden Country which vanished 1000 years ago. According to him, a mad mage cast some spells and the Kingdom vanished and the people got trapped beneath.
“I shall bestow my kingdom to whoever defeats the mage”, the old man promised and disappeared. And that’s how the adventure to find the mysterious “Golden Country” lost in the Dungeons began.
The episode begins with a group of 6 members attempting to find the mystery kingdom. They encounter a red dragon while exploring the Dungeon. Laios, the team leader is forced to escape as his sister Falin uses a spell to save them while she falls prey to the dragon. This failure leads to the loss of two members resigning from his team.
After a crushing loss, Laios, along with his remaining teammates Marcille and Chilchuck, reenter the world of the dungeon to save Falin.
The journey gets tough for Liaos and his team as they lose all their money and supplies in the battle with the dragon. Facing starvation, Laios decides to use the dungeon’s ecosystem and eat creatures to survive. Initially, Marcille is reluctant to eat man-plants and creatures. But later on, she agrees. Then, the story introduces Senshi, who is an expert in cooking monsters. He helps Laios in cooking food and soon joins them in the rescue mission. The episode ends with Laios and his team members reaching the Subterranean dungeon.
The Episode 1 explored culinary elements in the story. The series has perfectly blended dark fantasy elements with adventure and comedy. The fans are already appreciating the comic scenes of Marcille and Laios, awaiting the second episode which is set to premiere on 11th January 2024.
