CNN Anchor Sara Sidner Diagnosed With Stage 3 Breast Cancer

CNN News Central co-anchor Sara Sidner shared on Monday that she’s battling stage 3 breast cancer.”I am Still Madly in Love with this life”, said the CNN News Anchor while announcing her breast cancer on Television.

In an emotional on-air moment on CNN News Central, Sidner urged viewers to “Take a second to recall the names of eight women who you love and know in your life. Count them on your fingers. Statistically, One of the eight women will have breast cancer”, said Sara noting the one-in-eight statistic for breast cancer. “I am that one in eight in my friend group,” she continued.

Choking up, Sidner revealed her two-month chemotherapy journey, followed by radiation and a double mastectomy.

Despite no family history and a healthy lifestyle, she found herself in this situation.

She went on to tell the audience that, “Stage 3 is not a death sentence anymore for the vast majority of women.” But, she highlighted a startling fact that shocked her to the core: Black women are 41% more likely to die from breast cancer than their white counterparts.

Sidner’s Appeal To Women On Breast Cancer Detection

On facing stage 3 cancer, Sara took to National television to appeal to women to prioritize health and undergo regular screenings. Sidner urged all the woman out there, be it black, white, or brown, to get their mammography done. “Do your self-exams. Try to catch it before I did.”, said the 51-year-old anchor.

She posted on X (Formerly Twitter), saying, “Please for the love of God get your mammograms and do your self-exams. I want you to thrive my sisters.”

Sidner wrapped up with a message of gratitude, expressing, “I’ve thanked cancer for choosing me. Regardless of life’s challenges, I’m deeply in love with it. Being alive feels different; I’m happier, and not stressing over petty annoyances. I am happier because I don’t stress about foolish little things that used to annoy me”, Sidner said. She then concluded her message saying, “And now, every single day that I breathe another breath, I can celebrate that I am still here with you.”
