Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell’s Winning Speech Moments
The talented Brother- sister duo’s win was met with shock and joy as Eilish expressed her disbelief during her acceptance speech. Processing her big win at the Grammys Billie said, “Whoops, yikes, whoa my goodness. Damn, that’s stupid.” “I feel crazy right now,” the 22-year-old singer exclaimed, clearly overwhelmed by the recognition.
Giving a shoutout to her fellow nominees including Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, and others in the same category Eilish admitted, “That was a crazy list of incredible people, incredible artists, incredible music. I AM SHOCKED OUT OF THE BALLS.”
She also thanked Greta Gerwig for making “the best movie of the year” with Barbie, which is up for eight Oscars. Billie went on and even paid homage to Barbie in her outfit choices for the evening, wearing a vintage hot pink Barbie-themed varsity jacket from Chrome Hearts, paired with baggy black pants and a crisp white button-up shirt. For her performance of “What Was I Made For?” at the Grammys, Eilish wore a sleeveless green midi dress with a coordinating checkered long cardigan and pumps.
The Gratitude Attitude of Finneas and Eilish
Eilish didn’t shy away from expressing her gratitude to her brother Finneas, who co-wrote the song with her and also won the award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. “Thank you to my brother who’s my best friend in the world and makes me the person that I am today,” she said. The Everything I Wanted singer also recognized parents who were present for her big day at the Grammy Awards.
Finneas hopped in, thanked the Recording Academy, and acknowledged their good fortune, saying, “We’re so lucky. We just continue to be deeply, deeply privileged, lucky people. And it’s hard to feel deserving ever, but we certainly don’t right now”. Humbled by their momentous achievements, Finneas concluded the speech by saying “We’re very humble, and we’re very grateful. Thank you so much.”
And after the concluding speech by Billie and Finneas, the camera cuts to Taylor Swift nodding in the audience.
